You are not safe!

No one is safe. Not even in your home, let alone on the street or in a shopping centre. No matter how much money is spent on securing homes, malls and neighbourhoods, criminals will continue to kill and maim - unless you take responsibility for your own safety.

This was the message from the country's top criminologists as another three Pretoria families were ripped apart last weekend by violent criminals hellbent on wreaking destruction.

With hijackers and house robbers committing an average of 105 offences before they are caught for the first time, criminals, according to Unisa criminologist Rudolf Zinn, are becoming more and more daring and violent.

"The police's poor record at crime prevention added to a conviction rate of between 7 and 11 percent for serious and violent offenders, and a general lack of vigilance among South Africans is what drives the country's crime rate.

"This can be seen by the sheer number of crimes occurring every year which are constantly on the increase, despite the increasing number of people joining the police service," Zinn said.

Nearly 2.1-million serious crimes were reported to police in South Africa in the 2008/2009 financial year.

Of these, 18 148 were murder cases and 18 438 house robberies. Business robberies increased by 41.1 percent to 13 920, while house robberies increased by 27 percent. Hijackings increased by 5 percent to 14 915.

In Pretoria 582 residents were murdered, 1 205 motorists hijacked, 953 businesses robbed and 1 719 families attacked in their homes.

"The South African Law Commission last year revealed that the conviction rate for serious and violent crimes was between 7 percent and 11 percent, which means that these criminals are repeatedly getting away with their actions," Zinn said.

"International studies show that the longer criminals get away with committing crimes the more violent they become, which is exactly what we are seeing in South Africa, with the average hijacker and house robber committing more than 100 offences before they are caught," he said.

Zinn said this was exactly where the country's policing problem lay.

"Because police are not able to collect enough evidence properly to trace the offender and to get court convictions, offenders repeatedly get away with their crimes," he said.

In order for people to be safer they had to undergo an adjustment in attitude. "People need to know that they are never 100 percent safe. Once they know this, they can start taking steps to make themselves safer, and this is where vigilance becomes important.

"In interviews I conducted with convicted hijackers they said they often aborted their attacks the moment people noticed them, while house robbers said they specifically targeted security estates because they knew residents were lax about their security, leaving their doors and windows open.

"They know that these residents will not be suspicious of them walking around the estates because they assume that they had been cleared by the estate's security guards, when in fact they had not," Zinn said.

"You can't predict where the next attack is going to be, but you can do a lot not to become a victim by being vigilant," he said.

"People need to take their security seriously and listen to warnings issued by police, community policing forums and neighbourhood watches."

"What we often see with attacks such as house robberies and hijackings is that people become lax around their routines." Zinn added.

"They don't change their routes or times they go to and from home and often they keep their same routines even after they have been attacked, making themselves a target all over again," he said.

Pretoria University criminologist Dr Christiaan Bezuidenhout said it was a myth to believe one was 100 percent secure.

"By putting up high fences and having armed response guards one is creating a false sense of security.

"The only way all South Africans are going to be secure is through vigilance. We have to stop our 'Harry-casual' attitude and belief that because we have street committees, community policing forums and a police service we are safe.

"Crime is occurring in South Africa because we have motivated offenders, suitable victims and a lack of visible policing.

"These three things, which allow crime to thrive, will not exist if we are vigilant and proactive," he said.

Bezuidenhout said the government's recent change in attitude towards crime had to be bought into by all South Africans.

"The police cannot operate without intelligence, which is why we need to be their eyes and ears. It is a 50-50 partnership with communities needing to play their part, especially as criminals are born and created in our communities.

"There are many people who are aware of criminals and their activities, but do not become involved in the fight against crime because they are afraid, which is ridiculous.

"Anonymous tip-offs help to save lives," he said.

Unisa criminologist Professor Anthony Minnaar said that no matter what security measures were in place, a determined criminal would get through them.

"While we can delay and detect criminals with security systems, the ultimate answer to security and personal safety is vigilance.

"People need to be aware of their environment and surroundings," he said.

"Attacks often occur because of human error. If you do not lock your doors and put your alarm on at night your security measures are useless and will fail to keep you safe," he said.

Minnaar said community safety had to be looked at "holistically".

"All neighbourhood watches fail if they do not co-operate with the police, yet the police have to play their part by responding to and investigating crime properly," he said.

Here's what to do to avoid becoming a victim

Don't create a pattern. Patterns are very useful to criminals who keep your home under observation and plan the attack long before they carry out their assault.
 

Vary the time you come home, leave for work, your routes and the time you turn your security lights on and off

Rather have a palisade fence than a wall as criminals do not like to be seen

Have both large and small dogs. Small dogs are far more alert and wake up the larger dogs when intruders enter

Keep bushes and shrubs cut back around your gates and walls

As with hijackings be aware of vulnerable and weak spots around your home

Lock your doors and windows at night and activate your alarm systems

Report suspicious people to police and alert neighbours to suspicious movements and people outside homes and on the street

Know your neighbours' telephone numbers and contact numbers for the police emergency centre and alarm company's control rooms

Remove odd bits of rubbish from your property and neighbours' properties' they could be markers for criminals planning attacks

Teach your dogs to accept food only from you

If you have a burglary be extra alert and cautious. The break-ins are often criminals' way of testing your home's security system, you, your security company and the police's response times

Have a security plan which everyone in the family knows. These should include a safe room to hide away in from assailants, emergency numbers, a cellphone hidden away in a safe place with emergency numbers and a medical kit

Have copies of your gardener's and domestic worker's identity documents, residential addresses and contact details of their families

Never resist


Their methods

Observe houses - your movements are under observation often for days or weeks

Note your movement and security patterns before striking

Use various methods to get information from domestic workers and gardeners on your security systems, valuables and movements

Operate in groups of two or more and are heavily armed, often with an assortment of weapons

Strike, usually during the early hours of the morning or when you arrive or leave home, operate quickly and use various forms of violence to cause fear and intimidate victims into surrendering

Murdered in house robbery
On 11 October, a gang of blacks broke into the Doornpoort, Pretoria home of Gert Wandrag (47) and Nicole Grobler. A few days earlier, their two Daschunds were poisoned. Wandrag was shot in the head execution style and died on the spot. The gang escaped with cellphones, laptop computers and a wallet containing R 15.00. No suspects have been arrested and the police are “investigating”.

On 13 September, Willem le Roux (53) and his wife Julie (50) were murdered in their Plettenberg Bay home. Both were shot in the forehead execution style. The house wasn’t ransacked but two cellphones and a BMW belonging to the couple was taken. The BMW was later found abandoned near the black township of KwaNokuthula. Three blacks have been arrested after being linked to the crime, and yesterday made the news when the one murder accused, Bongani Mateyise (23) winked and smiled at Monica Roux, the murdered woman’s sister.

On 03 October, three blacks attacked the Cullinan, Pretoria farmstead of Henry Locke (39). Locke’s wife Amanda heard her dogs barking ferociously. She stupidly went outside to investigate, at which point she was overpowered by one black who forced her back into the house. The three blacks then shot Henry in the heart at near point blank range, in front of his wife, paraplegic son and 13 year old daughter. They proceeded to ransack the house and and fled with cellphones, a laptop and Amanda’s wedding rings which they forced off her fingers. No suspects have been arrested.

On 13 October a gang of blacks robbed the Lothlorien Waste Paper company in Jeppestown, Johannesburg. The robbers grabbed a bag containing cash, robbed other clients present of their cellphones and demanded the hand bag belonging to the bookkeeper. When she handed it over, they smiled at her, then shot her twice and fled in a white Opel Kadett. The car was later found at the nearby Jeppe hostel. 300 Police stormed the hostel and confiscated 30kg of marijuana and 11 illegal firearms. While searching the hostel, a large crowd formed and started attacking the cops, who fired rubber bullets to quell the riot. Four suspects were arrested on possession of illegal firearms but the original three robbers remain on free foot.

Also in Jeppestown, this weekend (Saturday 17 October) a gang of twelve black robbers stormed a clothing outlet called “City Hall”. The store is owned by an Indian family. While ransacking the store, robbers pointed a gun at Mohamed Dajee (59) and shot him twice, in cold blood and at close range. The same gunman then shot Dajee’s son Abdulah, who has an optometry surgery opposite the clothing store, in the leg. Mohamed died shortly afterwards as the gang helped themselves to leather jackets, cellphones and other valuables.

On 28 September, black robbers murdered Isabel Schonken (55) on her smallholding in Klipkop, east of Pretoria. Shonken tried to hide from the robbers when they found her cowering in the guest bathroom. She curled up in a foetal position with her back to the door, when robbers kicked it open and shot her. Shortly before shooting Isabel, the robbers shot her husband Lars Shonken (56) in the chest. They then beat him savagely, cracking his skull and breaking his wrist. Lars lost consciousness but incredibly, later regained it, after which he fetched his gun from the safe and managed to shoot one of the robbers. The gang of blacks fled with a cellphone, a hand bag and a laptop computer. No arrests have been made.

Less than 24 hours earlier, Sheun Anderson (18) was shot dead by black robbers on a smallholding just outside Wag-’n-bietjieskop near Bronkhorstspruit. Moments earlier they shot his father Robert (47) twice in the stomach, and reportedly asked Anderson Snr “how does it feel, how does it feel?”. They proceeded to ransack the house after tying up Jeannine Anderson. No arrests have been made.
Benefactor murdered in house robbery
On 20 September, two black teenagers murdered Johanna Blignaut (78) a retired librarian. The two boys (16 & 17) were from the adjacent black township Green Valley and had apparently visited Mrs Blignaut often, as she would always prepare them food. Mrs Blignaut was stabbed to death after which the two blacks stole a DVD player, R 150 in cash, a frozen chicken and various other valuables. On the Saturday afternoon of her death, Mrs Blignaut was busy preparing sandwiches for the pair when they suddenly attacked her with the knife. They were arrested that same evening and is presently in custody awaiting trial.
Murdered in roadside ambush
On 19 October, Lanche Roberts (17) a schoolboy from Jan Viljoen High School in Randfontein was shot in the head by a gang of black robbers when they ambushed a bakkie (pickup truck) belonging to the father of a friend. Lanche was sitting on the back of the bakkie when the vehicle turned a corner, to be confronted by a silver VW Polo and a large rock blocking the road. At this point, six blacks jumped out of the Polo and wordlessly opened fire on the trapped Whites. The driver of the bakkie managed to make a u-turn and tried to flee, but the blacks pursued them all while firing wildly. Eventually the robbers gave up and made their getaway empty-handed. It was later reported that the owner of the bakkie had R 25 000 cash on him, which were the wages he had to pay to his black employees. Lanche was flown to Milpark Trauma & Casualty Unit where he later died. No arrests have been made.

On 20 September at approximately 9:30PM, Karen and Jan Nagel were watching TV at their home in Springs on the east rand. Their dogs started barking viciously and the couple got up to investigate. Karen (45) saw a group of blacks who were busy forcing open a sliding door. She yelled a warning to her husband and tried to slide the door closed, but one of the black robbers shoved a pistol through the opening and calmly shot Karen in the back of the head. Jan (who was unarmed except with a poker from the fireplace) turned and ran while the robber shot at him. Five shots were fired of which one hit Jan in the arm. As relatives rushed to the scene, they saw seven robbers running away from the property. The police arrived 45 minutes later, despite the desperate family calling the flying squad and local police station which is less than a ten minute drive away. Karen was later declared brain dead and died after the family agreed to turn off he life support systems. No arrests have been made.
Hijack victim survives being shot 7 times at close range
On 27 September, Carl Lynch (24) was hijacked and shot seven times at almost point blank range while driving his Mini Cooper. Lynch, a Coloured officer with the Johannesburg Metro Police was driving along with four friends at 4AM on Friday morning when he found the road blocked by an old Datsun station wagon. As he tried to escape from the ambush, two blacks appeared on either side of his Mini. They opened the doors and proceeded to pull Lynch and his passengers out of the vehicle. One of the robbers seized Lynch’s service pistol which he had tucked in his belt, and shot him seven times in the stomach. Lynch is in critical condition in hospital, fighting for his life. His car was later found near Soweto. A 22 year old black was arrested and charged with attempted murder and hijacking.
Hijack victim survives being shot in the head at point blank range
On 8 October, Theo Beukes miraculously survived being shot in the head at point blank range. Beukes (46) of Falcon Ridge, Vereeniging arrived home and was busy opening his gate when he heard a loud bang behind him. As he turned to look, a car with three black hijackers stopped behind him. The blacks jumped out with drawn firearms and forced Beukes, who at this point was holding his hands up in the air, to lie prone on the ground. “Take my car, just please don’t shoot me” he told them. The one black then shoved the barrel of the gun against Beukes’s neck and after asking how many people were in the house, calmly shot him execution style. The bullet entered just behind his ear and exited his lip, shattering his jaw and penetrating his tongue. A spokesman for Netcare 911 said that the angle at which Beukes was shot, saved his life. Beukes’s car was later found abandoned in the black township of Duncanville. No suspects have been arrested.

On 29 September, a paralysed man was shot dead execution style by black hijackers. Henry Vorster (57) who was partially paralysed by a stroke, was shot in front of his wife outside their Willows town house complex in Pretoria. Vorster’s wife Magriet (58) had just stopped to enter their apartment complex when a gun-wielding black appeared next to the car. He shouted “get out of the car, this is a hijack” but immediately fired a shot which hit her right hand. “I got out of the car but he shot me again, this time in the leg. I screamed at my husband to get out of the car but he couldn’t open the door since his left side is paralysed. The hijacker pulled him over the car’s centre console and out through the drivers door. Then they shot him in the neck. As he lay bleeding, they aimed carefully and shot him in the heart. The hijackers raced off with the car, leaving the badly injured couple bleeding next to the roadside. Despite attempts to resuscitate Henry, he died. Amazingly, police reacted quickly and chased the stolen red VW Polo. A shootout ensued between cops & robbers after which three robbers were arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Equally incredibly, the police then declared that “the suspects still needed to be linked to the hijack and murder” which means that they’ll probably be granted bail for possession of stolen property and never be seen again.
Black attackers almost sever girl’s arm
This past Monday 19 October, Ciandi Vosloo was accosted by two blacks while walking in Centurion, Pretoria. The 21 year old girl was holding her cellphone in her right hand when the black attacked her in broad daylight, slashing wildly at her with knives and almost severing her arm from her body. They ran off with the cellphone, leaving the badly bleeding girl hysterical and crying. Ciandi underwent a seven hour marathon operation to save her arm, of which the flesh was almost completely severed. Doctors had to transplant a vein from her leg into her arm to save it. When trying to report the crime, her father Johan Vosloo was sent from pillar to post by black police who kept on refusing to open a docket. No arrests have been made.
White mother stabbed, face smashed in at roadside ambush
Yesterday 20 October, Sanette Moolman (42) of Uitenhage in the eastern Cape was subjected to a horror attack as she stopped at an intersection with her daughter Rechelle (6) and son Stefan (17). Three blacks attacked her, smashing her car window with a brick, and hitting her in the face with the brick. Next they stabbed her with a knife but as another vehicle drove by, they ran away without taking anything. Sanette suffered a deep stab wound to the neck along with severe lacerations and bruising to her face, neck and arms. Sanette is stable and recovering in hospital. No arrests have been made.
Crazed Mozambican attacks four women, kills fifth
On 4 October, a Mozambican national went bezerk and attacked several White women in a crazed, psychotic attack. Nando Lomina (27) first attacked Rika Pretorius (39) at around 13:00, stabbing her in the back, neck and shoulder. Armed with a bread knife Lomina then attacked Maria Terblanche (65) in the small mining town of Koornfontein just outside Middelburg, eastern Transvaal. She managed to escape and he ran out of her house and into the home of Kimberley Pearson (15) whom he next attacked. However, young Kimberley fought back, slamming a fridge door in his face and he fled. As he ran down the quiet neighbourhood street, Lomina, a casual construction worker next spotted Evette van Rensburg (17) and attacked her inside her parents home. He cornered Evette in her bedroom and as she tried to flee, he stabbed her in the neck. The terrified teenager was able to flee the murderous savage and ran out of the house screaming for help. At this point, Lomina spotted the domestic worker hiding in her room behind the house. His last victim was Maria Sibeko, whose throat he slit with a breadknife. Sibeko died at the scene. Lomina was arrested but later died mysteriously while in police custody. The SAPS’s ICD is investigating the death of Lomina, who died in a holding cell which contained eight other suspects. According to Leonard Hlathi, provincial SAPS spokesman, an inordinate amount of Lomina’s blood was found both inside and out of the holding cells.
Hijack Horror Death
On Monday 19 October, a truck was hijacked just outside King Williamstown in the Eastern Cape. The hijackers locked the driver and two passengers in the back of the truck, after which they set fire to it. Police were called out to the scene at 4:45AM when members of a small community nearby heard the blood-curdling screams of the victims as they were burnt to death. Two victims were badly charred but a third was still alive when police forced open the back of the truck. The third victim died a short while later. Click here to see the police report and video.
This is just a small sampling of the insane state of affairs in South Africa. The vast majority of cases never reach the media. Of those, the overwhelming majority (80%) are never detected. Of the few rare cases where perpetrators are apprehended, an abysmally small 7% result in a conviction, usually with a slap-on-the-wrist sentence. Even a life sentence in SA is no longer than 15 years, and with good behaviour, frequent state pardons due to overcrowded jails and the notoriously leaky jails, a perp can be out on the streets in less than four years - less if he can raise enough money to bribe prison warders, or not at all, if he can successfully bribe “investigating” officers to sell him the docket even before the case goes to trial.
The rule of law has long ceased to exist in SA - at least, insofar as it applies to black perpetrators of anti-White racist hate crimes. However, the rule of law firmly applies to Whites in the most shockingly tyrannical fashion imaginable. I will soon do a follow up article on recent cases where a White woman in her sixties was arrested by black cops for daring to ask her black neighbours to turn their music down, another White woman was arrested and locked up for daring to lean in and turn down the volume of an apparently abandoned police cruiser whose music was blaring at top volume, a White father who was arrested on a false rape charge placed by his black nanny, and his 2 year old boy locked up along with him in police holding cells for 14 hours, six White cops who were suspended without pay for arresting a gang of criminals after the criminals complained that the White cops assaulted them, a White Johannesburg man who was arrested and locked up for “interfering” with a flock of geese at the Houghton golf course…

To the world, South Africa is the African powerhouse, the only significant economy and the only meaningful place from which to enter the rest of the continent. Its superiority is overwhelmingly reflected in our otherwise dismal African statistics, in its domination on the sports field, in its markets, its infrastructure, its universities, its mines, its technology, its financial services, and in its claimed ability to host the FIFA Soccer World Cup next year.
But for us on its fringes, South Africa’s dominance is often a source of minor and major irritation, not least since we are not bowled over by its appearance.
I think there is a huge amount of eyeblinding going on in our southern neighbour and former colonial master. Not even considering the shenanigans of its politicians, including the clown-like antics of its current president, I am more concerned with SA’s real ability to live up to its popular image. In short, I think a large part of it is a farce.
It is a fact that South Africa is the murder capital of the world. The gruesome statistics are repeated often enough by many NGOs but one gets the impression, South Africans are blaze’ over this fact and regard it as a mere inconvenience. Crime in SA is at the order of the day, not only in poor or rural areas - everywhere, especially in the suburbs. I am asking myself how are the morally sensitive First-worlders going to swallow this unpleasant reality when it starts hitting them on a daily basis.
I do not think SA is ready or able to host the soccer world cup. But more important, I do not think the world knows, or want to know, that the big lion of Africa cannot host a brass band march without a dozen people getting killed. Vicious crime on a daily basis everywhere in SA is as normal as going to the loo for your early morning pee. This hard fact will hit the soccer fans in the hardest way imaginable the moment they set foot on SA soil. I expect a severe backlash in international media, the moment the first soccer fan is robbed (I expect this on the very first day), and an even bigger outcry when the first visitor is murdered for a cellphone or a video camera. (This I expect within the first week.)
Earlier this week I spent some time at Hosea Kutako International Airport. It is always a source for reflection to count the number of arrivals and departures and to see where they are going to or coming from. Again, the statistics are skewed. By far the biggest number of flights come and go from South Africa, even more than our own local flights. And of these flights, there are about twice as many to and from Johannesburg as there are from Cape Town.
Striking a light conversation with a tour operator, I heard a very familiar lament. Of the 12 people he had to pick up, 8 arrived without their baggage. Now this has become a running joke in Namibia - South African Airways’ proven ability to lose one’s baggage, but it is always more than an inconvenience when you arrive in Marseilles, or London, or Frankfurt and there is no case to collect. When returning home, it is not such a big issue, except that I do not even want to try and speculate what it must cost SAA in Windhoek per month to deliver hundreds (if not thousands) of baggage items per month.
I know the airline and the SA airports company are not the same entity, but in the eyes of the flying public, for all practical intents, they are. Still talking to the same tour operator, he said he collects groups of people on average about every second week at Hosea Kutako. Those that fly in from Cape Town or Europe, normally do not have a problem with lost luggage. But those that come from Johannesburg invariably have to wait for items lost at Johannesburg International. And of the bags that do arrive, more than 80% have clearly been ransacked. There is always something missing, almost from every single piece of luggage, he said.
Talking to a Namibian Airports Company employee a little bit later, he informed me that they had a formal complaints channel with the airports company in Johannesburg, but that the number of complaints become so big, more staff had to be assigned just to handle this. No response ever came back from the SA airports company, so after a while the local airports operator simply stopped lodging complaints. It patently was a waste of time.
So, if the mighty powerful South Africa cannot control a hundred or so luggage handlers all working in a rather contained airport building, how do they ever want to convince the world that they will be able to control their many thousands of hard criminals who roam the entire country.

Im Rest des heutigen Beitrags soll es einmal nicht um Südafrika gehen, sondern um Namibia. Es gehört zu den letzten Staaten des Kontinents, die noch nicht der üblichen wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Agonie der schwarzafrikanischen Staaten anheim gefallen ist. Vor zwanzig Jahren gab es noch vier davon, allen voran Zimbabwe, gefolgt Südafrika, Botswana und eben Namibia.

Was mit Zimbabwe passiert ist, weiß jeder Interessierte, obwohl liberale Gutmenschen daran nicht unbedingt erinnert werden wollen. Was in Südafrika passiert wird hier betrachtet und führt bei liberalen Gutmenschen zum antirassistischen Pawlowschen Reflex. Und Namibia ist sowieso das Leuchtfeuer!

Ist das wirklich so?

Für Südafrika und Zimbabwe kann/konnte man die Entwicklung anhand der großen Medienabdeckung nachziehen bzw. auch prognostizieren und plausibel belegen. Für Namibia ist das um einiges schwieriger.

Was mich hauptsächlich frage, ist, wie informiert sich die Bevölkerungsmehrheit, die in Namibias Norden angesiedelt ist? Was treibt sie um? Wo steht sie politisch? Wie stark ist die Forderung nach der Rückgabe des „gestohlenen“ Landes verankert? Ist Mugabe auch dort noch ein Held?

Könnte die weiße Wirtschaftselite, die Farmer und Tourismusunternehmer auch in diesem Land von einer plötzlichen Welle der Gewalt überrascht werden, so wie das in Zimbabwe ab 1999/2000 passierte? Wie groß ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass auch die SWAPO fremdes Eigentum einfach stiehlt?

Es scheint mir die Gefahr zu bestehen, dass die weiße Wirtschafts“gemeinschaft“ noch weiter von der Wirklichkeit des Denkens der schwarzen Mehrheit entfernt ist, als das in Zimbabwe der Fall war. Die immer wiederkehrenden Ausfälle –zuletzt der der Justiz(!)ministerin gegen Gwen Lister- gegen die weißen Kolonialisten und Ausbeuter sprechen eine andere Sprache als man sie den in offiziellen Verlautbahrungen entnehmen kann.

Bezeichnend ist für mich auch die Tatsache, dass die diplomatischen Vereinbarungen zur Landfrage, die zwischen Namibia und Zimbabwe geschlossen werden, auch auf Nachfrage des Namibian oder der AZ in Namibia nicht veröffentlicht werden. In Zimbabwe jedoch schon!

Ich kann mich des Eindrucks nicht erwehren, dass die Weißen Namibias ihre „Last days in Kenia“ erleben. Wir werden sehen.

South Africa: An open letter to Melissa Steyn and her liberal friends in response to their open letter to the Canadian Government

Ms. Steyn,

As a White South African victim of black racist crime and consequently an expat, I am outraged by the absolute tripe that you and your friends/colleagues have put forward by way of an open letter to the Canadian Government in respect of the Brandon Huntley asylum application case and would in turn, by way of an open letter to yourselves put you to the honest, objective scrutiny of your conviction.

First of all, how dare you, how dare you, diminish, obfuscate and basically dismiss the 3084 white farmers murdered by black, not white; black assailants in and on their farms usually by way of extreme brutality that has included torture by way of multiple rape, burning with boiling water, burning with firebrands, glass shoved into female genitalia, prolonged beatings and finally brutal death?

And I ask you this question against the ongoing chants by masses of blacks at most political or even for that matter, other gatherings of “Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer” which was a core politicisation tactic of the ANC electioneering campaign prior to the first “Democratic Elections” in South Africa that saw the installation of the ANC “government” which today enforces “fair and equitable” BEE and AA, which I would remind you has virtually totally excluded whites and is a study in ineptitude, incompetence, corruption and excesses, personal enrichment and outright thievery that not only beggars belief, but is an example of your statement regarding blacks who have been placed in positions to “prove their worth” being put to the proof thereof.

I would ask you Ms Steyn, what you think any thinking white farmer is to understand by this chant of “Kill the Boer, Kill the farmer” after these 3084 murders? Are we to believe that this particularly inflammatory, confrontational black racist chant is actually a benign ditty reserved for congenial campfire gatherings of ageing Umkhonto we Sizwe veterans enjoying the fruits of a South African Utopia where black reprisals and black backlashes against the white minority in South Africa are not constantly being effected, threatened or shoved down our throats?

What about the 3084 farmers that have been murdered Ms Steyn? Have you any experience of the sheer brutality with which every one of these murders has been executed? Have you any concept of the terror that was inflicted on these farmers? Can you get your mind around what an elderly man must feel as he is forced to watch his elderly wife, his lifelong partner being brutalised, beaten and then gang raped by black racist attackers before being killed in front of his very eyes before he himself is murdered by these black racist killers who all the while utter violent racial abuse and epithets which they often leave smeared on the walls of the sanctuaries of their white victims in the blood of their victims?

This is documented stuff Ms Steyn, it is on record, there is photographic evidence, it has been reported in newspapers – you should try and read it sometime. I further ask you this question against the reams and reams of documented reports of attacks on white farmers by black racist attackers who openly admit that they attacked and killed white farmers to drive them off the land and because they were white? Would you not say that this is an echo of what Robert Mugabe did with white farmers in Zimbabwe and is Robert Mugabe not held with absolute adulation and hero worship by the general black population in South Africa and is this adulation not a fair reflection of the general sentiment of the broader black population in SA?

Given these few considerations alone, for you to declare by way of an open letter to the legitimate government of a Sovereign Country that whites are not being persecuted in South Africa because they are white is at best just plain ignorant and at worst denialist which in turn makes you and your protagonists apologists for the brutal reprisals that are being waged against white civilians in South Africa every day.

I could unpack this further Ms Steyn but I would like to ask you about the ANC’s black racist chant of “One Settler, One Bullet” that since the first “democratic election” in South Africa has seen at least one innocent white civilian murdered in South Africa every day for the last 15 years by blacks. In fact this number is closer to 3-5 innocent white civilians murdered every day in South Africa by blacks and the documented instances where violent black racist epithets, verbal abuse and rhetoric was levelled at white victims during their brutal torture and eventual murder are legion. You need to research this to give some balance to your smug open letter because rest assured, if this asylum case was objectively reviewed and the case of black racism and black racist reprisals against white South Africans were to be scrutinised, not only would Brandon Huntley be given more credibility than is the case now, but a precedent would be set to declare the number of whites who have been murdered by black racist attackers to be nothing less than a genocide.

So I would ask you Ms Steyn, what are thinking white South Africans to understand of the black racist ANC chant of “One Settler, One Bullet” at this point in time after anything between nearly 6000 and 35000 whites have been murdered in South Africa in the last nearly 16 years of ANC misrule. Of course, at the moment we cannot be sure of the exact figures because of the ANC black racist governments exertions to hide South Africa’s crime figures, but trust me they can be percolated out of other statistics, like the death registry, hospital and funeral records, not to mention family testimony and in this day and age of high-speed technology and communication, it would not take much to side-step the ANC government’s diligence in hiding the crime figures in SA to reveal the true extent as well as documentation of race-hate murder of whites and the circumstances of extreme black racism under which these occurred, so maybe your open letter to the Canadian Government may still serve some purpose in uncovering the lie that is the Rainbow Nation.

Once again, how dare you and your ilk diminish the brutal murder of this number of white civilians at the hands of blacks racist attackers at the behest mind you, by way of continuous exhortations by high profile members of the ANC to “Kill boer, kill the farmer” and “One Settler, one bullet”?

Your smug condescending little appeasement exercise stinks of ANC black racist apologetics and tacit approval, not to mention full endorsement in an effort to overturn a legitimate application by an individual to live in a country that offers a degree of safety that for any white person in South Africa is unthinkable and in this regard, I would also put your convictions in writing this filthy little open letter to the proof thereof – why don’t you as a white woman try walking around your neighbourhood at night let alone in any “black neighbourhood”?

Once again, I could unpack this particularly black racist “reality” as you put it, of the state of affairs in South Africa but it would require writing a book.

What I would like to do is ask you about the “past brutalisation” you assert in your putrid little open letter. To my mind and to the mind of every thinking South African this was all subjected to intense, extremely prolonged microscopic scrutiny by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission which determined that the “past brutalisation” of blacks that you refer to under the Apartheid Administration amounted to approximately 7000 black combatants, activists, saboteurs, agitators, law breakers and a small number of civilians killed by way of engagement with the Apartheid security forces and Police between 1948 and 1994.

Compare this with anywhere between 6000 and 35000 unarmed, non-combatant, non-activist law abiding white civilian men, women and children murdered by random blacks in a mere 15 year period between 1994 and 2009.
At no point ever in the history of South Africa have random black civilians been attacked and murdered by random whites on the scale and with the consistency that random whites have been murdered by random blacks since 1994 so please would you explain who has been subject to the worst brutalisation in South Africa in modern times, and furthermore please explain to me how these statistics are not the manifestation of a deep, vindictive and intense race hatred and intolerance of whites by the general black population that amounts to anything less than the persecution of white South Africans, if not an outright genocide?

Much has been said about white privilege in South Africa and how whites enjoy senior corporate positions and salaries etc. and you also bleat on tearfully about this injustice, yet conveniently ignore the responsibility that these “privileged whites” have to shoulder to keep the economy afloat under economic conditions made so bad by “affirmative action” and BEE, punitive taxes, and a programme of the destruction of the country’s infrastructure by the ANC not to mention their own agenda of self enrichment that is beggaring the state coffers that most people in the international corporate community would have difficulty getting their heads around.

You also conveniently side-step the fact that the richest individuals in South Africa today are all black beneficiaries of the post Apartheid era, some of whom have made billions of Rands by way of white engineered Black Economic Empowerment programmes since 1994 that amount to the most massive accumulation of the most indescribable wealth by the smallest elite minority in the shortest time in history on a scale that would easily address all the so-called past injustices and brutalisation that is bandied about so flippantly by the likes of yourself.

And while, the handful of white survivors in South Africa beaver away busily at propping up the economy we have Julius Malema screaming racial abuse and accusations at whites for not removing themselves from their jobs to be at the renamed Oliver Tambo airport to welcome the return of an athlete that is the epitome of the duplicitous greed, deceit, lies and corruption of black officialdom in South Africa – please tell your mate Julius that we were not at the Airport to welcome a female with athletically advantageous all-male attributes because we were all working to generate the income from which would be drawn the taxes to pay the UIF of all the blacks that were there; not because we are racist.

Also in this all white male, unjustifiably skewed economy you have not said one word about what it actually costs to be a white male in South Africa with a job description that supports thousands if not tens or hundreds of thousands of blacks in terms of punitive taxes, physical and mental burn-out and the cost of insurance and security to protect our loved ones and our property from the urge that any blacks might have to walk into our homes and kill at random before taking what they want because of “past injustices”.

What about the nearly 1 million white people who have emigrated from South Africa Ms Steyn, mainly for one of if not both the following reasons; Crime and Affirmative action?

I left South Africa because I was a victim of violent black hate crime. I don’t know anybody who has not been a victim of violent black hate crime. I also left because as a white male over 40, I was advised by my already affirmative action over-endowed organisation that by not replacing myself and a number of my other white over 40 male colleagues with young blacks with no experience and mickey mouse degrees, they risked violating Government stipulated BEE quotas and a fine of up to R500k.

Or is this all stuff that we are all imagining Ms Steyn, just because we are actually racist and there is actually no murder of whites in South Africa and jobs for white men over 40 with multiple degrees and decades of experience are a dime a dozen?

On that subject you assert that the majority of skilled black people are not being given the opportunity to prove their worth. Oh really? What about the entire national, provincial and local ANC government within the ranks of which there are virtually no white men? And boy, have they sure proved their worth, Mercedes Benzes by the dozen, breakfast lunch and dinner BMW’s with every gadget you can think of, R60 Billion for weapons of war that no SADF member can operate, for a war against whom?

I could also unpack this lot Ms Steyn, but thinking people can do that for themselves and if you can’t or won’t then your little open letter is a mockery and again, you a denialist as well as an apologist for ANC black racism.

What about nearly a million white South Africans destitute and unemployed just outside Pretoria – unemployed because they are white? It seems that you and your ANC masters would have us believe that within an exponentially burgeoning black population of some 60 million plus, employing these whites would be a perpetuation of Apartheid but in the same breath complain that a small minority of white males still enjoy privileges in South Africa that most blacks (except the elite black multi billionaire club) can never aspire to because this small minority of privileged white men over 40 is hedging the entire country’s economy and excluding the black majority from it when in fact if it weren’t for them, the economy would have collapsed faster than it has.

It begs the question that if the drive of the ANC is BEE and they have already chased 1 million whites out of the country, made another one million destitute then it follows that removing the balance of the white racist minority that is monopolising the economy and replacing them with all these highly qualified and skilled blacks who are not being given the opportunity to prove their worth should be a no-brainer and would solve all South Africa’s problems – or am I missing something here?

In the final analysis Ms Steyn, your tearful little open letter is nothing more than an exercise in the appeasement of the ANC terrorist regime in South Africa and even worse, it also diminishes the hate crimes of black racists who have murdered so many tens of thousands of innocent law abiding white civilians in South Africa under the ongoing exhortations of the ANC terrorists since the early eighties that are synonymous with their chants of “Kill the Boer, kill the Farmer”, “One Settler, One Bullet”; and more recently, as we wait with bated breath the outcome of Zuma’s “M’shini Wami”, we saw the first drive by shooting in Cresta this week by a car full of blacks firing automatic weapons at mainly white pedestrians and motorists.

You fail further to recognise the fear and revulsion of white South Africans the world over of the black backlash that we continue to be threatened with and subjected to daily and instead assign that to petty racism the definition of which is still open to such interpretation that it would seem that you and your ilk would have the world believe that white South Africans can only function and exist if they can fulfil some perverse desire to oppress blacks no matter how decimated, besieged, marginalised, disarmed and impoverished whites may be in a country where everything is geared for the black majority against the white minority and the greatest beneficiaries of this are in fact a small minority of the black elite in government office and gargantuan BEE organisations like Mvelephanda Investments.

The disgusting wealth and excesses of these two ANC monoliths cannot be justified in any way whatsoever yet you and your ilk would ascribe the financial and socio-economic devastation of this concentration if the nation’s wealth in the personal coffers of a small black elitist minority to the evil machinations of a small minority of white people whose contribution to not only the excesses of the ruling black elite as well as the sustenance of the economy in general way exceeds their numbers and if anything, is testament to their commitment to the Rainbow Nation you dream about, even as they and their loves ones are systematically and daily murdered out of South Africa by random black racists on a scale that by any definition can only be described as a genocide.

I’m not genius, but I’m also not an idiot – I’m your typical white South African who has worked hard to contribute to this country but have realised that the more I give, the more blacks will take until I have no more to give and then they will kill me because I am white and that is the way of Africa – so I left and I will never return.

I also have thinking friends like me who have also left South Africa and guess what, not all of them are white, many of them are black and they also acknowledge the black racist backlash against whites in South Africa. They have also advised me that it will get worse – as more and more skilled whites leave and are not replaced by all the skilled blacks you talk about and as the economy shrinks and more and more shortages develop so crime will increase and by your logic this increase in crime should justifiably be borne by whites because there are so few of us and so many of them and we have all this stuff that we got for nothing with no effort and no studying and we did it by oppressing blacks?

I will e-mail this letter as well as your diatribe to as many of my friends as I can all over the world and while your letter may go to the Canadian Parliament and appear on the front page of South Africa’s anti-white media for a day or two, my response and those of other South Africans both black and white who have had to leave the country of our birth due to violent crime and black racist kleptomania disguised as BEE that enriches only the few black elitists; will bounce around the world again and again and again and it will lead to this incident coming under increasing international scrutiny for the simple reason that millions of white South Africans have left SA or are as desperate as Huntley to leave because they are happy, welcome and accepted in black South Africa especially if 3-5 whites are murdered every day, day in and day out in SA.

Lastly, I am compiling a letter to the Canadian Government as well as the government of the country I now live in and a few others and I will support this with a wealth of multimedia material to prove the black racist persecution of white South Africans, the threats of further backlashes and the ongoing exhortations of the ANC terrorist regime to perpetuate backlashes against the white minority group in South Africa.

You call yourself a realist but us much as you want to avoid it, you cannot escape the truth of the black racist criminal hell-hole that is South Africa and the truth always stands up to time and scrutiny no matter how much you try and spin it.

Finally as testament of the persecution of white South Africans by blacks I cannot even sign my name to this letter for fear of persecution and reprisals by blacks.
